Big Games Month at PROTO – Retro Special
March 7–29 The Big Game Month is taking place again at PROTO, and this year the keyword is retro . The whole house will be filled with games that have stood the test of time – from pixels and chess pieces to paper dolls and model worlds.
Do you miss childhood and simpler times? The traditional retro video game lounge brings back classic consoles and a true-to-life gaming experience, and retro board games offer screen-free gaming fun for visitors of all ages. The Iconic Dolls Weekend invites you to create and play – you can see unique private collections and make your own paper dolls and dollhouses.
The month ends with the traditional model weekend.
07.–08.03 & 14.–15.03
RETRO GAMES
The PROTO Pantera hall will be transformed into a traditional retro video game lounge, where you can relax on the couch and play legendary games on consoles from different eras.
The video game museum LVLup! and the North Tallinn Youth Centre will join in with their awesome activities, bringing exciting activities for both adults and children.
A retro board game area is also open – come and discover or reminisce about games that have united generations.
In addition to retro experiences, you can also try PROTO’s new VR STEAM game “Mission Airship”, which takes the gaming experience to future technology.
21.–22.03
ICONIC DOLLS
Dolls have been a reflection of identity, role play, and self-expression throughout history. Before the toy took plastic form, it was first an idea and invention on paper.
This weekend you can see fashion and toy dolls from private collectors, including Barbies , as well as collections of paper dolls from different eras.
There is a puppet play area where younger visitors can create their own stories. There will also be opportunities to make paper dolls and build cardboard dollhouses – everyone can be a designer and inventor.
28.–29.03
MODELING
The Great Games Month will conclude with the traditional Mini World model exhibition in collaboration with several model and train model builders.
There are collectors’ detailed models and landscapes outside – railways and trains, model airplanes, tanks, ships, cars in different scales, and much more exciting things.
This is a chance to see how gaming and engineering meet on the smallest scale.
